Cory Cooper didn‘t come from the glamour of Hollywood or the fierce streets of New York, but from the quiet, peaceful surroundings of the Midwest. He began his music career in kindergarten. While playing with his friends at his school, he began to sing to himself. Unaware to him, his teacher was listening and brought his talent to the attention of his grandmother and told her that she would like to put her grandson in the school's Christmas program. From that moment on, Cory began to lay the foundation of his journey in music, landing solos in school and at his church.
When in high school, he joined the school's show choir and above all his other subjects, dedicated himself to it full heartedly, knowing that it was going to get him ready for bigger and better things. It opened up the doors for him to not only sing and perform, but to choreograph and to win state and local awards, as well as work with vocal professionals. Knowing that midwestern universities would not cater to his style of music, Cory did not major in music, but still worked with private voice and performance coaches (and managed to sneak in some performances) so that he would be ready for his next chapter in life…California.
After graduating college, he packed his bags, kissed his family and friends goodbye and headed towards the wilds of Los Angeles.
Even though the process of his journey has been long and hard, and continues to be so, Cory has met and worked with some great music educators and professionals along the way in Los Angeles that have stimulated him musically, spiritually and professionally. He continues to work hard and does everything he can to sing songs that are true and to perform with great energy in hopes of getting one step closer to his goal.
“As long as my music can touch people in some way or they can relate to it because it sounds like something they have gone through, then I'm happy. As an artist, I believe as long as you are giving 110 percent of yourself when singing and giving yourself to the audience on stage, then I can walk away at the end of the night, knowing I've done a good job no matter what anybody else thinks.“ - Cory Cooper
