Merel

Merel is a South African Hip Hop Entrepreneur who started his music career back in 2004 whilst still in high school. His rose to fame with the release of several Underground Mix Tapes such as the Merel EP, Isqubulo Mix Tape, The Devil in me Mix Tape, Umsindo EP, Hip Hop Geba album and 4310 EP. He is currently working on the Merel LP as well as a number of singles of which some he is featured on. He was also featured on the Hip Hop Mix Tape where he did a track called Block 031 with Maraza, Zakwe and Duncan. Apart from music he works as a producer for Inanda 88.4 FM where he is a Producer for thier Hip Hop show called The Hood Up Show which airs every Friday and Saturday night. He also recently started being an Artist Coordinator for Kusengalunga Awareness Day. Merel is the founder of Homeline Records which one of the respected Music Production and Movements im KZN. He has shared the stage with the likes of Abdus, Zubs, Black Motion, Mpumi, Teargas, Kid X, Kwesta and many other Underground Hip Hop artist. He performed alongside Duncan “Skuva” at the INK Hop Festival in 2018. He has also performed alongside Zakwe recently. He has done tracks with Zakwe and Duncan “Skuva” which have been playlisted by commercial radio stations. For the love of music he created the Hip Hop Sessions called “Hip Hop Waya Waya” which are held every second month. He recently released a single with Rednash, Mapeula called “Barcode yase Nanda” and will be releasing another single in the weeks to come titled “Mtakababa”.
