Nicko

Nicholas Thompson , otherwise known as Nicko, was born in the parish of St.Mary, Jamaica on September 21 , 1990. However, he was raised in the trendy city of Kingston; where he was exposed to a variety of musical acts both locally and internationally. He grew up listening to musical acts such as DMX and Eminem ; and later transitioned to popular dancehall acts Movado and Aidonia. He sights their influence as one of the major reasons why he took to dee-jaying, as he says that their music allows listeners to relate and feel connected, which is what he strives for in his music. As a result, he began to pursue his music career professionally in 2007, while he was in the midst of completing his last year at the famed Calabar High School. He is currently a student of Jagas, where he is completing his degree in engineering , which is his second passion. Nicko's mission is to expose the world to the value of dancehall music, and to the lifestyle and hardships that many Jamaicans face daily. He aims to be one of the few dancehall acts that are able to cross over internationally.
